5These Socks ROCK! I love them.
By Susan E. Harper
I own four pair of Smartwool socks and am now addicted to them. I teach school and wear Dansko clogs...the best combination of footwear comfort imaginable!

These socks come in several heights...you will need to find what is best for your needs. I have the boot socks (aka knee socks) and they come up higher than the others. The crew socks are perfect with jeans and clogs and I love the colors!!! The color combinations from Smartwool are amazing. Their design team deserves kudos.

The Saturn sock is my favorite of them all. It is cushioned on the bottom more than my others and the colors are WOW! In fact, I bought two pair, I loved them so much.

OH...I always get holes in the toes of my socks from the friction of my clogs against the top of my toenail...BUT NOT with Smartwool!

Are they traded on the NYSE? I want to buy stock if so. If you don't think socks are worth $15 per pair, you might want to challenge yourself. I have worn Eddie Bauer socks for years and they are NICE, but they don't hold a candle to Smartwool.

4My favorite colors--not my favorite height
By R. Kyle
I love Smartwool socks. A friend who knew I had perpetually cold feet gave me a pair for Christmas and changed my mind about socks as a gift forever.

What's so great about them? They're warm in the winter and still comfortable up til the 80's--and even then, if you're going into an air conditioned building like a theatre, you may want to wear socks with your sandals.

"Saturn" socks have a full cushioned foot, which is the Smartwool variation I prefer. The cushion literally feels like you're walking around in your houseshoes even at the mall!

And like I said in the title, I love Saturn's colors. What I don't like is the height of the sock. I much prefer closer to a mid-calf height. Try as I might, my Saturns tend to roll a bit, which detracts somewhat from the comfort.

3Pills Aplenty, Pills Galore
By L. Thoburn
I have no gripe regarding the plushness or warmth of these socks. On the 3-4 occasions I've worn them, my SmartWool Saturn socks have kept my feet in toasty comfort as promised. Though they've only been laundered* 3-4 times and have never seen the inside of a dryer, these socks are already showing signs of wear. After the first wearing, the under surface looked hairy - so much so that I thought some of the faux fur trim of my clogs was stuck to the bottom; it was only after I tried to "de-fuzz" that I noticed the hair was actually coming from the sock. In addition looking shredded and shaggy, the surface of the socks are also covered with pills. At this rate, I'll likely get 30 washings. (While some posters have mentioned that you can get more than 1 wear per wash, for me this will be 30 wears as well - each with a .60 price tag.) For the price, I expected more.

* For the record, these socks always been laundered inside out in cold water with no fabric softener, and have been dried on a rack.)
