5Toasty Tootsies
By Gerald Reed
If your feet are cold, then this makes all the difference. I wear Smart Wool heavy socks, but sometimes my feet perspire and then my feet really get cold. The addition of these liners make all the difference.

2Disappointing performance
By Hank Wordsmith
I'm a big fan of Smartwool socks- I own over seven pairs. I bought these for hiking to replace my old polyester ones, because unlike polyester, wool wont get all stinky and gross after a single long day of backpacking. Smartwool socks are normally very soft against my feet, but not these socks. These socks are coarse. I could feel the grain of the socks rubbing into my feet the entire time I hiked in them. I also got several blisters, which has never happened before. I'm not sure if it was the liner's fault, but it sure didn't feel like the socks were helping. Ultimately, I returned them. I'd hiked in them a bunch of times, and they never started to feel better. Also, they got saggy and bunched up in my boots. That was annoying. Every mile or so, I'd have to loosen my boot and pull them up.

If you want a great liner, I would look at one of Smartwool's lighter cushioning PhD socks. They're formfitting, so they won't sag, and they are much softer. They're also in about the same price range. I'm normally a big Smartwool fanboy, but I'd really advise passing these ones over.

5Great Liner Sock
By Marco
I never knew about liner socks until I order wool socks and saw the recommendation that wool socks should be worn with liner socks. These are great. Wore them recently during a trip to North Europe where it was cold. No cold feet!
